What's happening? (general) A network outage occurred as the result of a cut to a fiber optic cable.
Who's affected? Application Users
What's the impact on me? Network systems and services including VIP, sc.edu, and IT Connection were unavailable for a brief period this morning while a work-around was being put in place to restore service.
What should I do? Contact UTS Service Desk at (803) 777-1800 for additional information (Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-6 p.m.).
UPDATES: 7/11/2013 9:00:30 AM - This network outage has been resolved. All services have regained full functionality.
7/10/2013 12:50:48 PM - Network connectivity has been restored to the Columbia campus and all regional campuses. Internet sites and services should be available at this time. UTS will continue to monitor the situation closely.
7/10/2013 11:29:37 AM - Intermittent network connectivity issues for the Columbia campus should be resolved within the next 15 minutes (by 11:45 AM).
Resolution (general): A work-around is in place to restore services while repairs are made to the fiber cable.
